ACTIVITIES OF RURAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

• Rural Engineering Department was created way back in 1972 with a view to create and develop infrastructure in far flung rural areas of the state.
• Rural Engineering Department as such has no specific Schemes of its own to implement the same as no budgetary support from the State Govt. is provided to this department in Plan Head.
• Rural Engineering Department is basically a Govt. Construction Agency and mainly undertakes various types of construction works of different Administrative departments and Agencies of the State Govt. as deposit work. The department mainly executes the construction of different types of buildings, roads, small bridges, etc. funded under Schemes like Sansad Nidhi, Vidhayak Nidhi, Purvanchal & Bundelkhand vikas nidhi, Border Area Development Programme, Calamity Relief Fund, Twarit Arthik Vikas Yojna & others.
• Rural Engineering Department is the main executing agency which are presently undertaking the construction works of C.C. Roads/drains in internal lanes/pathways of selected Lohia Villages under Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya Samagra Gram Vikas Yojna with budgetary support from Panchayati Raj Department.
• Rural Engineering Department is the other construction agency besides PWD which are undertaking the construction/ upgradation works of rural link roads in 34 districts of the State under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sarak Yojna (PMGSY) being sponsored & funded by Govt. of India. Rural Development Department is the nodal and administrative department of PMGSY at State level.

• Effective Monitoring of ,Progress of works and Quality control ,Budget allotments ,Receipts and Expenditure ,Man power resources management and providing Information to public regarding Ongoing and proposed works in various schemes , Tenders and Complaints The e-governance is being used in the department as per guidelines of UP Govt.
